Terms of Service
What you agree to when you use Automate Fundamentals, in plain language.
Terms of Service
Version 2026-10-04. Effective October 4, 2026.
These are our beta terms, written in plain language by the founders during the free beta. A lawyer will review them before we offer any paid plan, and we will ask you to accept the reviewed version. If anything here is unclear, write to [email protected].
Who we are
Automate Fundamentals ("we", "us") is a website for building, testing, and sharing stock strategies based on company fundamentals. It is run by its two founders and is in a free beta. These terms are an agreement between you and us about using the site.
Who can use the site
- You must be 18 or older, and able to agree to these terms where you live.
- One person per account. The details you give us must be true, and the account is yours alone.
- You may not use the site where that would break the law, or if we have closed your account before.
What the site is, and what it is not
The site gives you research tools: company figures from SEC filings and prices from your Alpaca account, screens, strategies, pies, calculators, education, and a community where members share their own analysis.
- We are not a broker-dealer. We never hold your money or your securities. Your brokerage account is with Alpaca.
- We are not an investment adviser. We do not manage your money and we do not give advice tailored to you.
Not investment advice
Everything on the site is general information, the same for every member. That includes scores, screens, strategies, pies, rankings, markers such as Dip or Surge, calculator results, Learn pages, and anything another member posts. None of it is a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security, and none of it considers your finances, goals, or tolerance for risk.
You make your own investment decisions. If you want advice about your own situation, talk to a licensed professional.
No guarantees
- Investing involves risk, including the loss of the money you invest.
- Backtests and paper results are hypothetical: they show what rules would have done, not what anyone earned. Past results, real or hypothetical, do not predict future results.
- Figures can be wrong, late, or missing. Companies tag their filings in different ways, our processing can make mistakes, and outside sources can fail. Check anything that matters to you against the company's own filings.
- The site may be slow, unavailable, or changed at any time, including while markets are open.
Your brokerage account and your trades
- You connect your own Alpaca account with your own API keys. Alpaca's terms govern that account, and Alpaca, not us, executes and settles your orders.
- You are responsible for every order sent from your account, and for its results, taxes, and costs. When you deploy a pie or a strategy, rebalance one, or turn on a strategy's re-sync, you instruct us to send those orders to Alpaca for you, now and on the schedule you chose, until you turn it off.
- Orders are market orders. They can fill at prices different from what the site showed, or not fill at all.
- Orders use cash only, never margin. Our trade limits can scale an order down or stop it, and the site tells you when they do. We may pause automated trading at any time, for any member or for everyone, to protect members or the site.
- Some real-money features are limited or unavailable during the beta.
- Check your orders and positions in Alpaca. If something looks wrong, turn off the re-sync and contact us.
Keeping your account safe
- Two-step sign-in is required. Keep your password, authenticator, recovery codes, and Alpaca keys to yourself.
- Tell us at once if you think someone else has used your account.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account, unless it happened because of a failure of our security.
Community rules
The community works only if members can trust what they read. These rules apply to everything you post or name: analyses, price targets, usernames, and the names and descriptions of public pies and strategies.
- No pump-and-dump or market manipulation. Do not post to move a price for your own gain, do not post claims you know are false or misleading, and do not coordinate buying or selling with others. If you hold, or plan to trade, a stock you write about, say so in your post.
- Criticize ideas, not people. Criticism of analyses, companies, and strategies is welcome. Demoralizing or unprofessional language toward other members will not be tolerated, and it will be moderated.
- No violence or hate. Language and speech that promotes violence or hate will not be tolerated.
- No spam or paid promotion. No advertising, no posts you were paid or rewarded to make, and no repeated posts.
- Respect other people. Do not impersonate anyone, share anyone's private information, or post what you do not have the right to share.
How we moderate
- A word filter checks usernames, public analyses, and pie and strategy names and descriptions when they are saved, and blocks words on its list.
- The founders can remove any public analysis from the community and tell the author why. A removed analysis comes off the community, profiles, and the author's record.
- For serious or repeated breaches, we may limit, suspend, or close an account.
- Public analysis is final once posted: its price, target, and date cannot be changed or deleted, so the record stays honest. You can fix its wording for 48 hours, and earlier wordings stay visible.
What you post
You own what you write. By posting it publicly, you allow us to store it, show it to other members and visitors, and grade price targets against market prices, for as long as it is on the site. What you post is your own opinion, not ours, and you are responsible for it. When you delete your account, what you created is deleted with it.
Fair use of the site
Do not scrape or copy the site's data in bulk, get around rate limits or trade limits, try to reach another member's account or data, probe the site for weaknesses without our written permission, or use the site to break any law or anyone else's terms, including Alpaca's.
Fees
The site is free during the beta. Before any paid plan begins, we will say what it costs and what it includes, and nothing will be charged without your agreement. Plans are flat subscriptions: we never charge per trade, on your assets, or on your results.
Privacy
How we collect, keep, and use your information is set out on the Privacy page. You can download your data in Settings, under Account.
Ending your use of the site
You can delete your account at any time in Settings, under Account. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or change or stop any part of the site. If we close the site, we will tell members first where we can.
Disclaimers
The site is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promises about it beyond those written in these terms, including that it will be accurate, uninterrupted, or fit for a particular purpose.
Limits of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows:
- We are not liable for trading or investment losses, lost profits, or any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss, however caused.
- Our total liability to you for any claim about the site is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and $100.
Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
Your responsibility to us
If someone makes a claim against us because of what you posted, how you used the site, or your breach of these terms, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of that claim, to the extent the law allows.
Changes to these terms
We will change these terms as the site grows, for example when the lawyer's review is done or a paid plan begins. Each version has a date at the top. When a change matters, we will tell you and ask you to accept the new version the next time you sign in; until you do, you cannot use the signed-in parts of the site.
Governing law and disputes
The law that governs these terms, and how disputes are settled, will be set after the lawyer's review and before any paid plan. Until then, if you have a problem with the site, write to us first and we will try to put it right.
